How Olique Increased Organic Revenue by 317% with Search-Intent-Led Shopify SEO
The store already had nine core collections. The problem was that they were not aligned with the relevant keywords and commercial search intents, leaving valuable organic demand uncaptured.
Olique, operated by Vendix GmbH, sells products made from olive wood, including selected items that can be personalised with engraving. The range sits at the intersection of practical homeware and meaningful gifting: a customer may search for a cutting board, for olive wood, for a personalised present, or for a gift tied to a particular occasion.
The challenge: the catalogue existed, but the search opportunity was fragmented
Olique did not need a catalogue to be built from zero. Nine main collections were already present in the store and accessible through the primary navigation. However, those pages had not been systematically optimised around the most relevant commercial keywords and search intents. As a result, Google had weaker signals about which collection should rank for which demand, and the site was missing traffic it was already structurally capable of capturing. That gap between existing structure and captured demand is exactly what a specialist Shopify agency looks for first.
- Collection pages were not consistently mapped to relevant keyword clusters.
- Metadata, H1s and heading structures did not always communicate a clear primary topic.
- Collection content and FAQs did not fully answer the questions customers ask before purchasing.
- Product descriptions needed a clearer, more scannable structure to support purchase decisions.
- Shopify filter, sort, pagination and collection-product URL paths created indexation and duplication risks.
- The store competed both with olive wood specialists and broad personalised-gift marketplaces.
Outcome
The SEO opportunity was not simply “more content”. It was to give every important page a distinct job and make its relevance clear to both search engines and shoppers — the kind of collection-level work we run as a Shopify marketing agency.
One catalogue, several ways to search
The same olive wood item can be discovered through several different entry points. That made search intent the organising principle of the project.
| Product | Olivenholz Schneidebrett, Kochlöffel aus Olivenholz |
|---|---|
| Material | Olivenholz, Geschenke aus Holz |
| Personalisation | Olivenholzbrett mit Gravur, Schlüsselanhänger personalisiert |
| Occasion | Hochzeitsgeschenk, Weihnachtsgeschenk, Geschenk zur Geburt |
| Recipient or use | gift for a cook, a couple, a pet owner or a barbecue fan |
Positioning angle
Every piece of olive wood has its own natural grain. Personalisation turns that natural one-off piece into a gift made for one specific person. This connects Olique’s material specialism with high-intent gift searches without reducing the brand to “just another gift shop”.
How We Rebuilt the Search Architecture Around Intent
The work combined technical Shopify SEO, semantic mapping, collection optimisation, product-page SEO, internal authority and controlled growth research. Each layer had a distinct job, but all six were designed to reinforce the same search architecture.
We began with a technical SEO audit and keyword research across the existing catalogue. The research was translated into a keyword-to-page map, defining which demand belonged to the homepage, a core collection, a product page or a future landing page.
- Technical audit of crawlability, indexation, canonicals and duplicate URL patterns.
- Semantic research for collection and product-level commercial queries.
- Keyword-to-page mapping to reduce overlap and potential cannibalisation.
- Prioritisation of the Schneide- & Servierbretter collection as the first high-value cluster.
💡 Outcome: Instead of adding keywords page by page, the site received a shared framework for deciding what each page should rank for and how the pages should support one another.
The store’s nine main collections were commercially important, but they were under-optimised. We first developed the approach around Schneide- & Servierbretter, then extended the same system across the core collection set.
- Mapped a relevant primary keyword and supporting cluster to each collection.
- Rewrote meta titles and meta descriptions to better communicate topic and click value.
- Optimised H1s and removed unnecessary or misleading headings from the template structure.
- Created useful SEO copy that explains selection, use cases, benefits and care – not filler text.
- Built page-specific FAQ sections and reduced repetition between the homepage and collections.
- Added contextual internal links to related collections and the olive wood care guide.
- Implemented dynamically generated ItemList schema for all nine main collections.
💡 Outcome: The collections became more than product grids. Each page gained a clear search target, stronger relevance signals and enough decision-support content to function as a useful commercial landing page.
Product pages had to do two jobs at once: become easier for search engines to understand and make the buying decision easier for visitors. We therefore combined on-page SEO with conversion-focused content improvements across the catalogue.
- Optimised product metadata and H1s around relevant product-level demand.
- Cleaned and corrected product-page heading structures.
- Reworked descriptions so customers could scan the page and find the most important information quickly.
- Separated and highlighted practical details, benefits, personalisation information and care guidance where relevant.
- Preserved accurate product facts while improving clarity, readability and commercial usefulness.
- Optimised image ALT text across the site.
💡 Outcome: Each product page became a stronger organic entry point and a clearer sales page, with key information arranged around the questions buyers need answered before purchasing.
Before scaling visibility, we addressed the Shopify patterns that could dilute ranking signals or consume crawl attention.
- Configured canonical handling for important page types.
- Fixed collection-to-product pathing so internal links point to the canonical /products/ URL instead of duplicate /collections/…/products/… paths.
- Implemented fixes for filter and sort URLs to reduce duplicate pages and unnecessary indexation.
- Reviewed collection pagination, including empty or low-value paginated URLs.
- Prepared and implemented 404 redirect mapping for obsolete URLs.
💡 Outcome: Google received more consistent URL signals, while internal links concentrated authority on the canonical product and collection pages intended to rank.
The project also strengthened the paths through which users and search engines move around the site.
- Fixed internal linking across 19 existing blog posts.
- Connected informational content – such as olive wood care – to the relevant commercial pages.
- Supported the domain with backlink activity and guest-post writing.
- Used schema and internal linking together to make the catalogue hierarchy easier to interpret.
💡 Outcome: Existing content began supporting commercial discovery more deliberately, instead of operating as a separate blog layer.
Once the existing architecture had a stronger foundation, we researched additional collection-intent keywords that could be served by products already in the catalogue. The goal was not to create a page for every keyword.
- Assessed queries by intent, search volume, SERP type and assortment fit.
- Separated product-led opportunities from occasion-led personalised gift demand.
- Flagged overlap and cannibalisation risks before a new page entered production.
- Moved suitable opportunities into content and collection creation as the next growth layer.
💡 Outcome: This expansion work is an ongoing next phase and is not presented as the cause of the performance gains shown below.
The Result: Stronger Visibility, Higher-Quality Visits and Greater Organic Revenue
Compared with the same period last year, Olique generated substantially more clicks from organic search while average rankings improved by more than 17 positions. GA4 also recorded stronger Organic Search sessions, a much higher session key-event rate and significant year-on-year revenue growth.

Organic Growth Translated into Measurable Business Impact
Search visibility is only meaningful when it contributes to stronger business performance. GA4 Organic Search data for 1–30 August 2026, compared with the same period in 2025, showed growth across traffic, engagement with key actions and revenue.

Why this matters: Organic revenue grew considerably faster than Organic Search sessions. This suggests that the channel delivered not only more visits, but stronger commercial value during the measured period. The result is consistent with a strategy that combined search visibility improvements with clearer, more decision-focused product and collection content.
The Real Gain Came from Giving Existing Pages a Clearer Job
Olique’s growth story is not about publishing large volumes of generic content. The store already had the products and the main collection architecture. The missed opportunity was that those assets were not consistently aligned with how people search.
By combining technical clean-up, intent-based page mapping, optimisation of all nine core collections, product-page SEO and conversion-focused copy, structured data, internal linking and authority work, we created a stronger foundation for sustainable organic growth. In the measured year-on-year periods, this was accompanied by 77% more search clicks and 317% higher organic revenue.
The next opportunity is to extend this structure selectively through new collections built around distinct product and gift intents – without sacrificing quality or creating cannibalisation.
